My client in Jersey required an update on sedation techniques which is used regularly for dental implants. I naturally made Mellow Dental my first port of call as I have known Dr Roy Bennett for many years and have always found him to share my passion for excellent standards in patient care. He is a dentist that commands respect simply through his leadership skill,s expertise and kind disposition.
I had not however heard Roy as a speaker, which I found out subsequently was to my own detriment. The organisation and logistics of the course were exacting and simple. Roy and Vanessa escalated my confidence in my decision to instruct Mellow Dental, due to the precision questioning involved in the preparation that resonated with me as a trainer. This spoke volumes that their approach was not that of ‘one size fits all. Roy and Vanessa have a real understanding of the psychology of the dental team dynamics.
Roy as a speaker is not just extremely knowledgeable, he takes an approach that appeals to the learning styles of individuals and their own specific needs. At no point in the day did he lose anyone in that room. He made everyone feel valued and we left with an action plan for change. To me, this is fundamental to providing real value for money.
Following the training, the support to ensure that the processes were implemented with urgency and efficiency were followed through, yet without feeling pressurised.
Vanessa was always quick to respond to any queries. There are few individuals on the circuit that I can describe as having the ‘X Factor, which leaves a legacy of having such an impact on each individual and managing change in the most reluctant of laggards, but Dr Bennett is right up there on in my Top Ten.

The course was fantastic and worked really well with the numbers, the group size was perfect. We thought that the venue was a good size and gave scope to use other spaces for the medical emergency training. Having Alan along to help lead this side of the course was really useful as he is clearly so knowledgeable and enthusiastic about the subject, and you can never do too much training in dealing with medical emergencies in my view!
The focus on how to approach the harder to manage patients and what to do if sedation fails was something that courses I have been on in the past have never touched on, this was a real eyeopener and also good to see that other people have this happen too!
It was a great refresher course and you did a superb job of keeping everyone enthused through the day, the content and delivery were perfect for dentists and nurses alike.
I will definitely be attending mellow dental courses again, and it is a great asset to have in the northwest region.
As an aside, if you do start offering the advanced sedation courses could you please let me know. I feel it is possibly unlikely that I will offer it but from an interesting point of view and knowledge I think it would be invaluable.

A short note to say thanks again to you and also to Alan for the IVS refresher day last weekend. I’m sure you will appreciate that giving up a weekend for CPD is not always the highlight of the week, but you both made the day enjoyable as well as informative – the experience of you both was clear and my thanks for explaining and leading us through all the necessary info with such ease and clarity. I have also this morning looked through the USB stick that you kindly provided and I must say that I am amazed at how much information and work of yours that you are willing to freely share – this is certainly going to prove useful and my thanks again go to you.

Roy’s course on IV sedation was a great way to refresh and update your sedation skills, the relaxed but structured day allows Roy to deliver all the information you need but allows constant interaction meaning all those questions in the back of your mind don’t have to stay there any longer.
